Our faculty members Prof. Dr. İsa Sağbaş, Prof. Dr. Ceyda Kükrer Mutlu, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsmail Ciğerci shared the experiences they gained in different countries within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 2219 Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program Abroad with the faculty’s academic staff.
Prof. Dr. İsa Sağbaş conducted his research at Brunel University London, United Kingdom, between 01.06.2023–30.09.2023; Prof. Dr. Ceyda Kükrer Mutlu is currently conducting her research at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) between 01.12.2024–01.06.2025; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsmail Ciğerci carried out his studies at the University of Reading, United Kingdom, between 02.09.2024–01.09.2025.
The meeting, which began with an opening speech by Dean Prof. Dr. Gökhan Demirtaş, featured presentations from academics who had been abroad through TÜBİTAK programs. They shared their experiences regarding university selection, the application process, challenges encountered during the fellowship period, the benefits gained, and opportunities for international collaboration.
The speakers highlighted the opportunities offered by TÜBİTAK fellowship programs, emphasizing that the experiences gained in international academic environments significantly contribute both to individual academic development and to enhancing the research capacity of the faculty. The presentations particularly underscored benefits such as interdisciplinary interaction, methodological innovations, opportunities for joint publications and projects, and the expansion of academic networks.
Other faculty members attending the event noted that this experience-sharing session was highly beneficial for academics planning to apply for these programs. The faculty administration emphasized that such events would continue to be held regularly and that support for fostering a culture of benefiting from international research funds would be strengthened.
The meeting concluded with expressions of gratitude to the speakers and the sharing of good wishes.
